A case of assault and a counter-complaint have been registered with the Jeevanbima Nagar police after four people rained blows at each other in Thippasandra on Sunday.

The victims, identified as Vijay Kumar and Suresh, reportedly told the police that the two men who assaulted them were the henchmen of Abhilash, the husband of New Thippasandra BBMP corporator Shilpa KS.

However, the FIR does not mention his involvement.

Kumar said a civil work was taken up in front of his steel shop on Thippasandra Main Road. Meanwhile, workers Swaminathan and Manjunath, posing as the corporator's supporters, demanded Rs 2 lakh in order to complete the work quickly. Kumar and Suresh took objection to this and argued with the workers while they were having tea at a bakery.

The police rushed to the spot and detained the troublemakers. While the police took up the complaint from Kumar and Suresh, they also entertained a counter-complaint from Swaminathan and Manjunath stating Kumar and Suresh were the first to start the fight and assault.

Speaking to DH, Abhilash said: "I received a call from one of the men who was assaulted. The four were fighting over a trivial issue and I know them all. It was Kumar's house-warming ceremony and they had partied after which they had fought."
