B S Yeddyurappa goes into 'auto' mode

A day after Congress chief Rahul Gandhi rode the Metro to travel in Bengaluru, BJP chief ministerial candidate B S Yeddyurappa on Monday trundled about in an autorickshaw to attract people's attention.

Yeddyurappa took an autorickshaw from his residence in Dollars Colony to reach Jasma Bhavan in Shivajinagar. Bengaluru Central Lok Sabha MP P C Mohan accompanied him. Yeddyurappa held an interaction with autorickshaw drivers here, as part of the party's voter-specific outreach programme ahead of the polls.

The state BJP chief promised that his party would build an exclusive residential colony for auto drivers if voted to power. He pointed out that there were 3.5 lakh auto drivers in the state and 1.5 lakh of them lived in Bengaluru alone. An autorickshaw welfare corporation would also be constituted, and medical insurance scheme extended to the drivers, he promised.

Yeddyurappa's next stop was Hosakote, where an interaction programme with dairy farmers had been lined up. Here, he assured to set up a cattle feed processing plant if the BJP came to power.
