Seized disk sheds light on forgery: Varsity

Nearly a month after an FIR was registered against the Bethel Medical Mission, the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) has claimed to have found a document in a data disk recovered from the mission that has forged signatures of in-charge vice chancellor.

RGUHS top officials said they had gathered a hard disk from the college, which has several forged documents, including marks cards and certificates.

Dr M K Ramesh, in-charge vice chancellor, confirmed that his fake signatures were found on one of the documents.

The signatures of Dr Ramesh were forged on one of the documents that date back to 2013 when he held no official post in the varsity.

According to the varsity sources, at the time of inspection, the hard disk with data of 500 GB was recovered from the college which was found to have several forged documents. These are being analysed with the help of three IT professionals.

"A report on the same is being prepared and would be placed before the Syndicate as well," said an official.

RGUHS officials, who suspect a bigger racket, are examining the possibility of forged documents being created for other colleges as well.

"In the past six months, we have seen about 10 cases of fake marks card and other forged documents," said an official.

The governor has written to the RGUHS seeking a report on the issue pertaining to the Bethel Medical Mission.

The issue came to light after an Iranian student, who was pursuing a physiotherapy course, had approached the RGUHS stating that she had not availed her results despite appearing for examinations.

On verifying, the varsity had found that she was given a fake hall ticket. Following this, an FIR was filed at the Tilak Nagar police station against the institute.

According to RGUHS sources, the student had also appeared for theory examinations and her papers have been evaluated. However, she had not appeared for the practical examinations.

The Bethel Medical Mission had earlier filed an FIR saying that some members claiming to be from the RGUHS had trespassed into the institute premises on the pretext of inspection.
