Poll awareness messages rain from skies in Dharwad

The Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) committee of Dharwad used a novel medium to communicate electoral awareness messages in Dharwad on Wednesday.

Karnataka goes to Assembly polls on May 12 and results will be announced on May 15.

SVEEP, with the assistance of a Maharashtra-based aviation company, used paramotor gliding to spread poll awareness.

Captain Nityananda Naikawadi of the company who took off from the Karnataka University campus, rained election awareness handbills from the skies.

People who had come to the campus for walks and exercise, picked up and read the messages on the handbills, clapped and cheered the paramotor glider.

Electoral awareness handbills were rained from the skies in Jannatnagar, Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Hosayellapur and other extensions.

When the paraglider finally landed at Chiranthamatha Garden, people gathered to cheer him.

The event was launched by district SVEEP committee chairperson and ZP CEO Senhal at the KCD premises. She urged all voters gathered there to vote without fail and exercise their right of franchise.
