Bengaluru: BJP State president B S Yeddyurappa on Wednesday expressed confidence that 68 of the 72 candidates, who are on the party's first list, will emerge victorious in the polls.

Speaking at a day-long workshop, where party's poll plans were introduced to its election management committee members at the Palace Grounds here, Yeddyurappa said the list was prepared considering the winnability factor.

He said the candidates for the remaining 152 seats are likely to be announced on April 14 by the central election committee. "At least 80 candidates, who are on the first list, will win. In all, we will win 150 seats and form the government."

Yeddyurappa said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will face defeat, if he contests from Chamundeshwari. "He has completely lost his base there."

The BJP leader called upon party functionaries to put in extra efforts for the next one month, while campaigning for the party. "We can not come to power without the support of Dalits, OBCs and women. Make special efforts to woo them." he said.

The party election management committee has 38 sub-committees, both at the state and district level to handle different issues related to elections, such as poll expenditure, campaign, publishing of publicity material and campaign literature. These committees also held meetings on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, Yeddyurappa held an interaction with students, who were winners of a series of competitions organised by the party's IT wing, on issues plaguing Bengaluru.
