MP Kateel observes hunger stir against disruption of Parliament

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel observed a hunger strike in Mangaluru, along with other BJP leaders, opposing the act by the Opposition leaders in the Parliament which led to the disruption of proceedings in the House.

He said that the Congress has murdered the ideologies of the Indian Constitution by not allowing the House to function.

Kateel said that as a mark of protest, the party MPs are conducting hunger strikes on the day between 10 am and 5 pm throughout the country simultaneously. Also, the BJPMPs have decided not to receive their salaries and allowances for the current month. The stir is observed by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah as well.

The MP and other leaders offered their tribute to the father of the Nation before protesting in front of Gandhiji's statue near Town Hall on Thursday.

Addressing the protesters, Kateel said that the House of the people could not transact business on 20 out of 22 days of the recently concluded budget session. The sessions days were marked by pandemonium created by the Opposition parties.

Kateel said that although the government was ready to discuss major issues, the Congress leaders kept disturbing the House. Public money, to the extent of several crores of rupees spent on conducting the Houses of the Parliament, has gone waste. Several important bills such as the OBC bill, could not be passed.

He added, "The Congress is afraid of losing its existence if the Central government successfully passes the bill. When the BJP was in the Opposition in the Centre, it did not hinder the Parliamentary sessions. But, the Congress is disrupting the House, at the cost of the nation's welfare. The British left our country long back, but the Congress is continuing the British legacy by playing mean political tactics. In a way, Congress is worse".

The leaders shouted slogans against the Congress party. Bhajans were sung on the occasion.

MLC and Opposition Chief Whip in Legislative Council Capt Ganesh Karnik, former MLA Rukmaya Poojary, former MLA Yogish Bhat, BJP District GeneralSecretary Brijesh Chowta, and leaders Satyajit Suratkal, Vedavyas Kamath, Harikrishna Bantwal, Prabhakar Bangera, and Umanath Kotian took part.
