Pocso convict throws shoe at prosecutor

An accused threw a shoe at a special public prosecutor at the special court for Pocso cases and gave a death threat to him.

The convict, Prashanth, 25, from Kirtinagara at Aroor village in Brahmavar is charged with sexual assault of a minor girl. He was convicted by the court for 20 years imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on him.

The special public prosecutor Vijaya Vasu Poojary argued the case.

The convict, who felt Poojary is responsible for the verdict, immediately removed his shoe and threw at him.

Besides, he abused him and threatened that he will kill him.

Poojary appealed to magistrate Venkatesh Naik and said it is an insult to the judiciary.

The magistrate ordered the SP to take action. The police, with the permission of the court, has taken the initiative.

Prashanth is also accused in a murder case at Brahmavar police station.

He had taken a 15-year-old girl from Koteshwara to his relative's house on February 15, 2013, in Hebri and had sexually assaulted her on February 18.

A case was registered in Kundapur police station.
