MCODS bags honours in MAHE's Silver Utsav

The Silver Utsav 2018 concluded here with a fashion show and a repeat performance of the best of this edition. Manipal College of Dental Sciences (MCODS), Manipal, bagged the honours this year in the competitions, which was held for six days. In the runners-up position was Kasturba Medical College, Mangaluru, and Manipal Institute of Technology finished third.

Five days of fun, frolic and hectic competitions came to an end with the valedictory, where Vasanti R Pai, wife of chancellor Dr Ramdas M Pai, was the chief guest, and, Michelin-starred Chef Vikas Khanna released his 30th book titled 'Patra'. The book is based on the Culinary Museum at WGSHA, which he had inaugurated the previous day. The Cultural Coordination Committee of MAHE, headed by chairperson Dr Shobha Kamath, ensured that the 2018 edition of Utsav, held in the Silver Jubilee year of MAHE, was far better than the previous ones. Over 40 events were held during the annual fixture in the calendar.

With teams from Manipal Group institutions taking part, there was a bigger representation and the students were prepared to dish out better fare this time around. 'Standup Comedy' and the introduction of the effective use of digital technology for everything, from compiling results to judging and registration, were the new additions this year.
