Cultural fest in City

Started in 1975, Samaduya has been working to uphold the rich cultural legacy of the State. Since its formation, the organisation has involved itself in enacting street play, cinema, literature and organising a month- long cultural procession across the State. Janasamskruti Utsava will have a wide range of programmes related to literature, theatre and cinema.

The first day of the Utsav is dedicated to literature, where noted writers will take part and present their views. In the evening, a play called Suttikondare Sarpa by H V Venugopal will be performed. Theatre is the prime subject of the second day. Theatre artistes M B Patil, Krishna Raichur, M S Murthy will present their papers on Common People and Art.

Veteran theatre person B Jayashri will also attend the function. K M Rajgopal’s play Kalayanada Koneya Dinagalu will be performed in the evening. Dedicated for cinema, the final day will have director Girish Kasaravalli, writer U R Ananthmurthy and critic Manu Chakravarthy in the symposium. Dada Saheb Phalke awardee V K Murthy will be honoured on the occasion.
