Meet the members of Honnashettyhalli Grameena Mahila Okkuta who are visiting at least 150 villages in the taluk to  campaign for their candidates.

Transparent administration
They are distributing pamphlets at Mulbagal, Srinivaspur and Bangarpet of Kolar district and other villages in Kolar taluk. “We want the people to have a transparent administration,” said Federation  Chief Executive Officer M S Jayalakshmi.
As many as 85 women are contesting from the federation in this Gram Panchayat poll. Federation president H M Lakshmamma and secretary C R Venkatamma are overseeing the campaign.

The campaign appeals to the people to give a chance to women members who can make a difference in their villages.
“Self Help Groups are the successful faces of the rural development. Who else know their villages better than them,” asks Lakshmamma. The federation wants to call this exercise - sensitising voters rather than wooing voters.

“Unlike other candidates, we are not splurging money on campaigning instead allowing voters to make their own decision,” she added.
