Addressing the gathering, State Youth Congress General Secretary Venkatesh Gowda said that the BJP government has handed over the case to CID only to safeguard Halappa. “We oppose the State government’s move and demand that the case should be handed over to CBI. The truth can be brought to light only with a CBI inquiry,” he added.

Mere resignation from the cabinet is not a solution to the allegations against Minister Halappa. Instead, a criminal case should be booked against him and should be brought before the law immediately, Gowda said. Youth Congress will launch state-level agitation against the corrupt BJP government, which is tainted with several scams and scandals. As the government is completing its two years in power, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and leaders should introspect as to how many ministers in their cabinet are honest, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Abhayachandra Jain said that Yeddyurappa and other BJP leaders speak of morality and Lord Sri Rama. However, it is ridiculous that many ministers in the BJP government are involved in sex scandals, he added.  DCC President B Ramanatha Rai said that the BJP has failed completely in presenting a good administration in the State.

The Nemmadi Kendras opened in the district has become a useless point that people do not get any kind of help there. Meanwhile, several schemes including Ashraya were not being implemented properly. The government has made Ashraya scheme more complicated by changing rules regarding the ownership of the site, he added. DCC Vice President Ivan D’Souza, District Mahila Congress President Mamatha Gatty, Leaders Kallige Tharanath Shetty, Shashidhar, B K Sunil, T K Sudheer and others were present.
