Investigators inspect couple's house

CID cops took charge of the investigation after the case was officially handed over to them at the office of Superintendent of Police in the afternoon. They verified the documents provided by the couple along with the complaint and inspected the house where the incident is said to have took place.

An eight-member team comprising DySP Renuka Sukumar, Inspector Hanumantha and six constables arrived here at 2 pm and had a discussion with senior police officers at the office of Superintendent of Police.The team visited inspection bungalow to which complainant Chandravati’s husband Venkatesha Murthy was made to drive by H Halappa to bring medicines. The documents furnished by the couple along with the complaint were verified there.

The CID team visited the house of complainants at 4 pm for a spot inspection. They questioned Venkatesha Murthy, his wife Chandravati and son. Forensic and fingerprint experts inspected the room in the first floor of the house where the incident is said to have took place. Every nook and corner of the house was frisked by the experts.

Neighbours were seen perched on the top of their houses to have a glimpse of the proceedings. The interrogation and inspection continued till late evening.  During the five-day stay in the city, the CID team is expected to interrogate persons connected with the case. Former minister H Halappa has gone absconding and is  expected to apply for anticipatory bail at the Principal District and Sessions Court here on May 5.

Chandravati has informed that she will lodge a complaint with Central Women Commission against Halappa. She was speaking to media persons after lodging complaint with the police on Monday.
