Kidnap case: Police take protesters into custody

Last Updated 07 May 2010, 18:22 IST

The protesters alleged that the police were harassing the complainants in a kidnap case.
The Madiga Dandora-Madiga Misalathi Horata Samiti had organised the protest.
Protesters had alleged that one Prakash had lodged a complaint with regard to kidnap of one Mukund.

Police had summoned accused Srinivas to the station. However, they hadn’t filed the FIR, they alleged.

Police act criticised
Criticising this, the members had complained to senior officials in the police department.
“We had responded to their problems. But they have complained against us. Besides, they have not taken permission to hold protest,” said the police officers before arresting the leaders Shankarappa and Srinivas. The arrested will be remanded to judicial custody, said the police officer.
