Patient's death sparks protest

Relatives allege doctors negligence

According to police Noor Jehan (15) was admitted to the hospital on April 29 for appendicitis. The doctors had said the girl had to undergo a surgery but did not perform it for 12 days. As the condition of the girl worsened, Jehan’s relatives shifted her to a private hospital in Shivajinagar. However, the girl died soon after admission, the police said. The protesters demanded action against the doctors whose alleged negligence was responsible for the death of the girl. Corporator Shareed Begum also took part in the protest.

Colleague assaulted

An employee of a private firm allegedly assaulted his colleague near Anand Rao Circle on Friday morning. A heavily bleeding Lakshmi (22), a resident of Vijayanagar and an employee with SLR Consultancy Company was immediately rushed to a hospital. She is stated to be out of danger, said Upparpet police.

Police said Venkatesh of Srirampura, who works in the same company accosted her at the Circle and attacked her. Reason for the attack is yet to be ascertained. Police are on the look out for Venkatesh.

Boy drowns

A 10-year-old boy drowned in a pond in a private land  at A Narayanapura in Mahadevapura. Police said the victim Deepak had gone near the pond to play with his sister. He lost balance and fell into the pond. Deepak’s sister informed the incident to family members and he was dead by the time help arrived, said the police.

Stabbed to death

A man, aged between 25 and 28, was robbed of Rs 5,000 and stabbed to death by strangers near Kempegowda Bus Station on Thursday night. According to police, Manjunath Naik, a passerby, noticed an unknown man lying with stab injuries on the Service Road around 11 pm. Later, the man, identified as Manikanth from Kushtagi taluk of Koppal district, narrated the incident to Nayak. The police rushed to the spot and took Manikanth to Victoria Hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
