A native of Vijayanagar in Hubli V S Mahesh is known for his innovations in the field of renewable energy. He has devised several innovative inventions based on solar energy.

He came here all the way from Hubli to participate in the exhibition-cum-sale of solar products, which has been organised on the occasion  of International G-Ray’s Day by the Proactive President Welfare Association at Jayanagar 5th Block at Shalini Grounds.

Mahesh said he has set up a museum at Hubli where he has displayed some 250 odd systems run on solar and other renewable energy.

He said he is also guiding many school and engineering students to promote renewable energy.

Inaugurating  the exhibition the Jayanagar MLA Vijay Kumar said that it is time to switch to solar and other renewable energy sources as the country is facing severe power crunch. He said the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike should use solar energy in as many public places as possible. Like Vikas Soudha, which relies on solar energy, BBMP too can switch to solar energy.

City Mayor S K Nataraj who was also present there, said he would certainly consider using solar energy in the parks. He said the major challenge for using solar energy is that there are very few people to repair or replace the product.
