SSLC blunder: 3 teachers suspended

Last Updated 07 June 2009, 19:05 IST

Confirming reports that 70 teachers have been issued show-cause notices while three others were suspended, the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) on Sunday said all toppers getting 618/625 was nothing more than just co-incidental.

“Even last year we had a situation where three toppers were given the same set of marks and two more were added to the list. There is nothing that can be attributed to it,” said KSEEB Director, Rajanna. The KSEEB has said that the future course of action against these teachers who are under the board’s scanner will be decided based on their replies.

The Department of Public Instruction Commissioner, Kumar Nayak also dismissed the incident of all the three achieving the same set of marks as coincidence. “There is nothing to the incident of them achieving the same set of marks,” he said.

Meanwhile, the suspended teachers, one from Bangalore University and two from Tumkur have been confirmed as having committed errors during evaluation. “That is the reason why they have been kept under suspension,” said Rajanna.
