The JP Nagar police, which claims to have cracked the murder case, arrested Palani (25) from his Kitaganahalli residence on Sunday. The accused after visiting several places came down to Bangalore city to collect his baggage. He had planned to settle down in Mumbai.
On May 29, Jathin George, a lab technician was strangled at her work place. The two were working for Apollo Hospitals on Bannerghatta Road.

Palani’s close friend and a roommate helped the police by disclosing his whereabouts. Based on his inputs, the police arrested Palani. When asked about the friend’s details the police refused to divulge details.

The police said, Palani fled the city after strangulating his colleague Jathin at the laboratory on the third floor of Apollo Hospital on Bannerghatta Road. A house keeper saw Jathin lying on the floor with a cellphone charger cable around her neck and informed the higher ups and in turn the police.

For the past 14 months, the two were in love and were going steady. However, things turned sour when Palani proposed asked her to marry him. Jathin refused to enter into wedlock as she belonged to a different caste and also requested him to look out for a girl from his community. On the ill-fated day, when she was on night shift, Palani stayed back after finishing his duty. During a conversation, disappointed Palani pulled out a cell phone charger wire and strangled her.

After that Palani travelled to several places before arriving in Bangalore on Saturday to pick up his luggage and landed in the police net. Palani hails from Trichy and comes from a lower middle class family. After his studies, he came to city and joined Narayana Hrudayalaya where he met Jathin. In March this year both quit Narayana Hrudayala and moved to Apollo Hospitals.
