Testing survival skills

Wilderness survival expert and film-maker Les Survivorman Stroud spends harrowing weeks alone in a variety of survival simulations.

In each episode he is set down in a deserted wilderness and left to fend entirely for himself with no food, no fresh water, no shelter and no matches.

It highlights Stroud's extraordinary self-reliance and survival skills. In a wild and jaw-dropping episode, Les will be air dropped onto a snow-covered peak in the Canadian Rockies. For seven days, he will have nothing but his wits, and a broken camcorder, to depend on.

Touring famous beaches 

California native Bridget Marquardt is the best to show some of the most famous beaches in America.  

She takes the viewers around to the sun-soaked beaches during the day along with the smell of sizzling Cuban food and bright neon and the beat of Latin rhythms during nights. In this episode of Beach Watch, Bridget gets an inside look at the Miami Beach lifestyle from Miss Miami 2009 Jenice Fernandez, Miss Suncoast 2009 Rachel Todd, and famous sun worshipper, actor George Hamilton.

Amazing discoveries

Animal Planet presents Oceans, a series packed with different personalities, amazing discoveries, unbeatable adventure and providing a vital understanding of the planet's biggest and least understood asset — its oceans.

 Once described as the oceans' aquarium by Jacques Cousteau in the 1960s, the Sea of Cortez is rich with life. One third of Earth's marine mammal species are found here, alongside more than 800 species of fish.

But these waters are in a state of flux. As commercial fishing has increased alongside tourism and industry, this fertile sea is now classified as endangered. Diving in search of one of its apex predators, the Hammerhead Shark, the team discovers one of the winners in the war of change – the Humboldt Squid.
