Vocal concert

Paniveni Udayashankar will present a Carnatic classical vocal called Udayaraga on May 16, 6.30 am to 8 pm at Lalbagh. He will be accompanied by Prema C (violin), M G Gopalakrishnan (mridangam) and Mukund (khanjira).

‘Sangati’

Ananya GML Cultural Academy is organising Sangati music festival till May 15 at Ananya Sabhangana at 6.30 pm everyday. Percussionist H S Sudhindra will inaugurate the event. More than 50 young artistes from all over Karnataka as well as from other states will be showcasing their talents during the festival.

Many veteran musicians, musicologists and connoisseurs of music are expected to grace the programme. Sri Thyagarajagana Sabha Trust, BTM Cultural Academy and Sri Rama Lalitha Kala Mandira are also associated with Sangati. The valedictory function of Sangati and presentation of Ananya Awards will be held on May 16, 10 am at Seva
Sadana Auditorium in Malleswaram.

Festival strains

Sri Thyagaraja Gana Sabha Trust is conducting the 39th Year Bhagvat Sri Shankara Jayanthi and Music Festival till May 18. Cultural programmes will be held everyday from 6 pm to 9 pm at their centre in Rajajinagar. Vocal and instrumental concerts will take place, featuring vocalists K V Krishnaprasad, Manasi Prasad, S R Vinay Sharma and Amruth Nagasundar. Flutist M K Pranesh will perform on May 14 with his group. The valedictory function on May 18 will felicitate A V Prasanna and Nirmala Prasanna among others.

‘Sangeetha Sabha’

Indiranagar Sangeetha Sabha, Purandara Bhavana, 8th Main Road, HAL second stage, is holding a vocal concert by Sangeetha Sivakumar and team on May 15, 6 pm. For details, call 25215525.

‘Boomarang’ live

Boomarang will perform live at Hard Rock Café on May 13, 8.30 pm, at Hard Rock Cafe, St Mark’s Road.

‘Ram Charit Manas’

Sharma Bhandu, the doyens of Shri Ram Darbar Style of singing Ram Charit Manas, will present a three-day devotional extravaganza at Chowdiah Memorial Hall from May 13 to 15, from 6 pm to 9 pm.

Hindustani touch

Shruti and Sangeeta Kala Bhavan will present Pt Rama Rao V Naik Janma Shatabdhi Memorial Hindustani Classical Vocal Music Concert by Susheela Ullal Mehta, accompanied by Rajendra Nakod on tabla and Vyasamurthi Katti on harmonium, on May 16, 6 pm at Veda 323/51, 5th Cross, 14th Main, Sadashivnagar. ‘Rabindra Sangeet’

To celebrate 150th year of birth of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore, on May 16, 6 pm Pronomi tomay, gahi boshe tabo gaan — an evening of Rabindra Sangeet by Manomoy Bhattacharya and Jayati Chakraborty' from Kolkata will be held at Yavanika Auditorium, State Sports and Youth Services Department, Nrupathunga Road. Carnatic notes

Carnatic Music Circle, Chandra Layout is arranging a Carnatic music concert by Aishwarya Shankar on May 16, 6 pm at No 12, Basaveshwara HBCS, 7th Cross, 2nd Main, Chandra Layout (behind Canara Bank, Chandra Layout Branch). She will be accompanied by Harini on the violin and Sumesh Narayanan on the mridangam.

‘Lamb of God’
American metal band Lamb of God will perform live at the Palace Grounds on May 15.
