Temple fests from today in Udupi

Speaking to media persons here on Saturday, MLA Raghupathy Bhat informed that the week-long programme is celebrated with pomp and grandeur. Cultural programmes will be part of everyday programme. Rituals like Brahmakalshothsava, aranimathana, chaturveda parayana, rudra homa, and ranga pooje will be performed on all the eight days of the celebrations, he added.

Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa is expected to attend the Sri Srinvasa Kalyana Mahotasava celebrations on May 19.

Pejawar mutt seer Sri Vishweshatheertha Sripada and Putthige mutt seer Sri Sugunendratheertha Sripada will deliver the spiritual blessings on the occasion. Tirupaty Tirumala Devasthanam (TTD) Tirupathi President Adikeshavalu Naidu, Tourism Minister Janardhan Reddy, Rajya Sabha MP Oscar Fernandes, Manipal University Chancellor Ramdass Pai and Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishath Secretary Kavtha Prasad will be chief guests on the occasion, Bhat said.

He informed that for the first time in Udupi, Lord Srinivasa from Tirupathi Temple is brought and will be taken to Karamballi in a palanquin from Sri Krishna temple.

The grand procession will be accompanied by cultural troupes, he added.   Temple Renovation Committee President Dinaker Shetty, General Secretary B Jayakar Shetty Indrali, Vice Presidents Eshawar Shetty Chitpadi, Yashpal Suvarna, Eshawar Chitpadi, Kodavur Diwaker Shetty, CMC Councilor Geetha Serigar and others were present.
