FROM HERE & THERE

Take the Gowtameshwara temple in the Kuduvalli Gram Panchayat limits. The temple is at the border of Aaldur and Vastare hoblis. This temple is in the middle of coffee plantations. Dating back to the 13th century, the temple is made in stone.

Also, the temple has an edict in Halagannada. (older version of Kannada) This temple is 700 years old, and its roof, a mantapa and tower are in a poor state. When it rains, the roof leaks. The rain water inundates the sanctum sanctorum too. About two years back, resident of the village Chandre Gowda got a roof built on the temple, ensuring that it didn’t collapse.
According to locals, some of the idols of the temple have been stolen. The road leading to the temple is also in a poor state. In fact, there is no pucca road to the temple.
Not much has been done by the authorities concerned to ensure that a temple with such a heritage value is well-maintained.
