Farmers losing land to get better deal

Earlier, farmers losing land used to get 8,500 sq ft per acre as compensation. The order is applicable to land acquired by KIADB. Farmers who have lost less than 10 guntas of land will be paid only cash as compensation and cannot claim developed land in exchange. The offer is also not applicable to land obtained for single unit complexes and infrastructural projects.

D S Gowda of Raitha Horata Samithi expressed his happiness at the order being passed and said that it was the result of the long fight by the farmers to get fair compensation in exchange for their land.
