Man accused of planting bombs wins Gram Panchayat polls

His victory has come as a surprise to many, as he was absconding during the election proceedings and did not take part in campaigning. Country bombs found in the backyard of B Yarriswami’s home in Chellagurki had made headlines. In his complaint to the police, Yarriswami had accused Kuberappa of planting bombs. The police had arrested Anjinappa in connection with the incident. Kuberappa is yet to be traced.

However, Kuberappa emerged victorious In Gram Panchayat elections with 366 votes, while his nearest competitor C Ratnamma succeeded to get 360 votes. Whereas, Yarriswami who had lodged a complaint against Kuberappa managed to get only 269 votes. In Kuberappa’s absence, his family members had campaigned for him.
