Speaking at the protest rally organised in front of Deputy Commissioner’s office on Wednesday, they alleged that the government officials are demanding bribe for releasing the honourarium.

“The government had increased the monthly honourarium from Rs 400 to Rs 1,000. However, the officials pay the honourarium only if the handicapped persons pay the bribe. Those who refuse to bribe are still given Rs 400 per month,” they informed.

ENT facility is provided to the handicapped persons in Hassan district hospital alone. The facility must be extended to Chikmagalur and Kadur hospitals as well. If the handicapped comes forward to start self employment, then financial assistance must be given to them, they added.

The Association is in need of a site to construct a building to carry out the activities of the Association.

The Kadur TMC must identify and provide a land to the association, they urged.  State Association member H S Devaraj and others were present.
