The week saw the launch of Ganesh Shetty’s Private Number, a movie that is said to be written keeping Akshay Kumar in mind. However, on the insistence of producer Ganesh, director Anand Kumar, who has earlier directed Hindi films like Delhi Heights and Jugaad, brought the story to Sandalwood.

Already gaining attention for the inclusion of former Miss India Niharika Singh as the leading lady, and German model Claudia Ciesla, as her best friend, the shoot for Private Number has started in the City. The film also features another debutante, Preetham, in the lead role.

When Metrolife dropped in on one of the shoots, the crew members were busy picturising a club song at a popular City pub. Sitting quietly in the corner, observing every little step of ace choreographer Imran, Anand says, “Today’s sequence is a birthday party where the hero forgets the heroine’s birthday but makes up for it by throwing a party for her.”
Trying to keep the party upbeat, Preetham was seen dancing at the DJ console. All dolled up in a little black dress, Niharika was waiting for her turn to shoot. “So far everything is going great and I am enjoying every minute of it,” she says. This being her character’s birthday, Niharika adds that her actual birthday is on August 31. “If something like this ever happens to me on my birthday, I would never forgive my friend. That’s why I make sure all my family and friends remember my birthday,” she adds.

Claudia, on the other hand, picked up her steps very fast but seemed rather upset with her hairdresser. “She totally ruined my hair by using an entire can of hair spray,” she complained to the director. But things were resolved with the director setting things straight.

While Anand does not know the language, he is very confident about making it big in the industry. “Cinema is a global language. It can be understood by audiences around the world. I have never made a film in any other language apart from Hindi but the producer has the confidence in me and says only I can tell this story,” he adds. Private Number is said to be a thriller where one phone call that the hero receives changes his entire life.
