Kick CM, ministers, says Kumaraswamy

Speaking to reporters on Friday, he said the affected people were living “like cattle” without proper shelter.

They have been forced to live in sheds made out of metal sheets. The Government has failed to construct houses as promised, he added.

CM not bothered

Yeddyurappa, who had promised to provide them houses by May-end (before the onset of monsoon), is not even bothered about it now. Of the 63,000 houses announced, only about 200 had been constructed, Kumaraswamy alleged. The former chief minister said the Yeddyurappa Government has taken advantage of the “mild  nature” of north Karnataka people.

“Therefore, people should stop showing any respect to the chief minister and his Cabinet colleagues. Things will move only when you kick them,” he stated.

Plaint with Lokayukta

Meanwhile, the JD(S) has filed a complaint with the Karnataka Lokayukta alleging misuse of funds meant for flood relief and rehabilitation works.

“The Government has not been able to construct houses for the flood-hit people as funds have been misused. A thorough probe will reveal the truth,” the party spokesperson Y S V Datta told reporters.
