Written by Junaid Wasi, and sung by K K Karthik and M M Kreem (he has composed five out of seven tracks), ‘Ab Ye Kaafila’, the opening song of the album, is very relevant to the film. The Hindi song, which begins in a falsetto, uses an English refrain, as if to bring in emotions.

Next, we get to hear a different musical strain from Daler Mehandi. A philosophical song, penned by Panchhi Jalohnvi, its notes mostly lie on lower octaves, the terrain less travelled by Mehandi songs.

‘Rang De...’ is a foot-tapping Bhangra number from Shankar Mahadevan and Shilpa Rao. However the opening harmonium part is reminiscent of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi-hit ‘Haule Haule’. The mood then switches to a melancholy one in ‘Saaware’, sung by Kreem who also repeats an earlier Mehandi song after this.

‘O Re Bande’ — rendered by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Shilpa Rao — is a beautiful song in Sufi style which brings out the beauty of raag ‘Yaman’. The Lahore theme song composed by Wayne Sharpe and sung by Lisbeth Scott is the concluding piece, with a western touch.
