CM announces Rs 2 lakh ex gratia

Speaking to presspersons after visiting the crash site on Saturday, Yeddyurappa expressed shock over the incident and declared mourning in the State. He said a sum of Rs 50,000 will be paid to the injured.

“This is one of the biggest tragedies. I have directed district administration to undertake rescue operation. The government will provide all possible help to the injured,” he said.  The Cabinet meeting has been postponed to Monday. Later, he paid visit to Wenlock Hospital in Mangalore.

Home Minister Dr V S Acharya, District-in-Charge Minister Krishna Palemar, MPs D V Sadananda Gowda, Nalin Kumar Kateel, DGP Ajaykumar Singh and others were present. Though the Army chopper carrying the Chief Minister arrived at Mangalore airport around 11 am, the chopper returned as it did not get landing clearance at the Mangalore airport. The chopper was diverted to Hassan and the chief minister reached Mangalore from Hassan by car only at 3.50 pm.
