A gift called life

Our world is home to more than 30 million different animal and plant species, each locked in a unique fight for survival. Discovery Channel will premiere a new series Life revealing the most spectacular and fascinating behaviours that living creatures have devised in order to thrive. Filmed over 3,000 days, across every continent and in every habitat, this is life as no one has ever seen it before.

The ten-part series Life will premiere every night at 8 pm for two consecutive weeks, Monday to Sunday, from May 24 to June 6. Post the first telecast, the series will air every Saturday at 8 pm starting June 12. Sir David Attenborough will introduce the unparalleled and compelling natural history images ever seen — many captured for the first time ever on camera. The premiere episode of Life, Challenges of Life provides an overview and sets the stage for this epic series. The other nine episodes include Reptiles and Amphibians, Mammals, Fish, Birds, Insects, Hunters and Hunted, Creatures of the Deep, Plants and Primates. 

Budding fashionistas

Sixteen new designers strut their stuff in the fifth, fabulous season of Project Runway on Travel and Living. It returns with a new crop of sixteen up-and-coming designers for a brand new season. Host and supermodel Heidi Klum heads a panel of industry luminaries, including judges, top fashion designer Michael Kors and fashion expert Nina Garcia, as they decide who will be a part of Runway. The contestants will be eliminated each week till the finals.

The finalists  will show their own line in front of an audience of fashion industry at the New York Fashion Week. Project Runway airs on May 24 at 10 pm.

Emerging victorious

American Ninja 3 : Blood Hunt airs on May 24 at 9 pm on HBO. The movie stars David Bradley, Steve James, Marjoe Gortner and Michele Clan. For evil that has no cure, what is needed is a warrior who knows no fear. And Ninja master David Bradley is just that. He and some other martial arts champions are lured to a tropical paradise where evil in the form of a scientist awaits them.

Known only as The Cobra, he plans to use them as human guinea pigs in his germ warfare experiments. Trained in the ancient art of Ninjitsu, David is set to take on The Cobra to see who will emerge victorious.

Aggressive antelopes

Watch Inside Africa on Animal Planet on May 24 at 10 pm. The Namibian Oryx is the most aggressive of all the antelopes. He’s genetically built for fighting. Bouts of sparring are frequent and intense. Aggressive males challenge each other all year round. Damaged horns show how violent these confrontations can be.

At birth, their horns are minuscule, but can grow to three feet in length by adulthood. With weapons like these, the Oryx can rip his enemies open with a single blow.

Fighting the caste system

In tonight’s episode of Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam, Leher tells Abeer that she can’t go along with his plan as she cannot put her family through more humiliation. Further, Abeer tries to convince Leher and asks her, “Who has said that a brahmin boy and a kayasth girl cannot get married? We have to change this age old belief...”

Will Abeer be able to convince Leher? Will Leher agree to marry Abeer and go against her parents’ wishes? For more, tune into Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam on Monday at 9 pm on Colors.
