SMK, Clinton to chair India-US dialogue

Krishna and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will chair the first India-America Strategic Dialogue from June 2 to 3 next. India and the US had agreed to hold annual strategic dialogue during Clinton’s visit to New Delhi last year.

Burns, an Under Secretary for Political Affairs in US Department of State, is currently on a tour to India for preparations for the strategic dialogue. According to a spokesman of the Ministry of External Affairs here, Rao and Burns discussed “substantive issues” related to Krishna’s visit to Washington and his parleys with Clinton.

“Intensified India-US cooperation in the five focus areas of strategic cooperation-energy and climate change, education and development, economic trade and agriculture constituted their main agenda. They also exchanged views on regional and global issues of shared interest and common concern,” said Joint Secretary (External Publicity) Vishnu Prakash.
