Addressing the press on Wednesday, Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh President Walter Cyril Pinto said the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) officials had given a written assurance to Patrao of returning his belongings that they had illegally confiscated from his house to him on May 25 at 11 am personally. Following this, when Patrao visited KIADB office along with Catholic Sabha members on May 25, the officials told Patrao that they will not hand over the commodities to him if he intends to take the commodities back to his land which has been acquired.

“They also pressurised Patrao to give a written assurance that he will not take the commodities back to his old land. When Patrao refused to yeild to this unreasonable demand, the officials said that they will not return his belongings and misbehaved with him,” Pinto said.

Catholic Sabha members have said that they will stand by Patrao in his fight against the corrupt officials and stage protest against the anti-people attitude of the policy makers in undivided Dakshina Kannada district. It may be recalled that 300 year old house of Gregory Patrao at Permude was demolished by KIADB officials on April 28 rendering Patrao family homeless.
