Sunkara, who was the only Indian to enter final-four stage of the girls' singles, quelled some early challenges before getting the better of her Japanese opponent 7-6 (2), 6-0.
Chinese second seed Ran Tian, her compatriot Lin Zhu (seeded fifth) and ninth seed Miho Kowase of Japan are the other semifinalists of the tournament, also a test event for the October 3-14 Commonwealth Games.
