Survey team visits disputed mining areas

The team headed by Additional Surveyor General A K Pada studied the maps of the areas for two days before venturing into field work. The team also held meetings with officials of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

The team visited Antaragangamma Konda adjacent to Tumti-Vittalpura on Karnataka border, mining areas of Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC), Ananthapur Mining Company, Y Mahabaleshwara Mines and BIOP Mines, sources said. It is said that team instructed to fence some surveyed areas.

Mining entrepreneur Tapal Ganesh submitted a memorandum to A K Pada urging to detect the alterations in the maps of the mining areas.

The team has been appointed in view of allegations of encroachment of the boundary by OMC, owned by minister G Janardhana Reddy and others.
Additional Chief Conservator of Forest Sugur and officials of Forest, Mines and Geology of both the states too were part of the team.
