Injured man seeks to allay rumours

The Bangalore-based software professional, who hails from Belgaum in North Karnataka, suffered a minor injury as the bullet grazed his right thigh. He said he was not sure whether Ravi Shankar had left the complex or not as he was trying to find out what was causing him sudden and severe pain in his thigh. He said he was not near the convoy of the AOL founder.

Kollumath denied the firing was a result of enmity between devotees.
“I do not have any enemies. I joined the course only five or six days ago. I do not have any properties in Bangalore. I stay in a rented house. My father is a retired government servant. We are innocent people. I joined the course to reduce stress and also because I have breathing problems. I am extremely hurt to know that a section of media concluded that the incident happened due to rivalry between two groups of devotees.”

Administrative head of the ashram Narendra Lamba said: “It could be a threat, it could be a terror attack. The police have to take the responsibility and probe."
Secretary to Ravi Shankar, Giri Govind said the firing took place when Guruji had just boarded the car and closed the door and not after the convoy left. “He had just got into the car, closed the door. I was driving the car. We just started moving when we heard the loud noise,” he said.
