<p>The victim, Sanjana Singh, was a PUC II Science student at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Hebbal. Sanjana from Bihar was returning from her tuition along with her friends when the tragedy struck. She was walking close to the wall holding an umbrealla when it started raining around 7 pm. Sanjana was caught unawares when the wall collapsed. <br /><br /><br />She was immediately rushed to Baptist Hospital where she died. Sanjana’s friends escaped with minor injuries. According to Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials, the 10-foot high newly constructed wall collapsed following heavy showers. <br /><br />“The victim was the daughter of Ashok Kumar Singh, a private company employee living in Lakshmayya Block, RT Nagar,” HS Revanna, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) told Deccan Herald. <br /><br />Meanwhile, BBMP Commissioner Bharath Lal Meena, who was at former minister V Sommanna’s daughter’s wedding, rushed to the spot . According to the Palike officials, the wall was built recently after the BBMP released funds to the veterinary college once the road-widening of CBI Road was undertaken.<br /><br /> “The quality of the compound wall is seriously under question. We will take stock of the entire construction on Wednesday,” said an official. The BBMP commissioner has ordered a technical inquiry into the construction of the wall. The Sanjaynagar police have registered a case under Section 304 (A) (death caused due to negligence) of the IPC.<br /></p>
