As one takes a ride to the mountain, one can only find plastic water bottles, plastic cups, bags juice bottles and plastic plates thrown all along the sides of the road.

Senior citizen M N Shadakshari says that the tourists come in search of places with serene beauty but they do not leave the place without spoiling the area. “Tourists should stop this attitude and develop love for nature. Nobody is stopping them from relishing on delicious packed food while they enjoy the scenic beauty but why dump the packs here. Why can’t they take the packs along with them,” he says.

Seethala Mallikarjuna Swamy temple is located on the hill and the tourists are not sparing even the temple. The similar dumps can be found even in temple premises, which is hurting the sentiments of the local people. “Why is the temple and entire of Chandradrona hill looking like a dustbin to the tourists,” question the local residents.  Seethala Mallikarjuna Swamy temple Priest says that the temple committee is fed up of telling people not to throw waste in temple premises.

“The tourists should find peace by visiting temple and living the nature’s beauty but instead they are making the area dirty by their uncivilised behaviour. Is it possible to appoint policeman behind every tourist,” he questions and adds that if this continues than local residents in any area will never allow tourist development.

However some local residents are of the opinion that people who spoilt the environment by littering waste must be punished.
