Disclosing this to reporters, Housing Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu said three types of houses –– Bhagya, Sampada and Yashas –– have been planned for the benefit of poor.
It is a self-financing scheme and house construction will be taken up on demand. Priority will be given to BPL families and those who do not own a house, he added.

Under the Bhagya scheme, 325 sqft house with single bedroom, Sampada on 375 sqft with a bedroom and a study room and Yashas on a 450 sqft area with two bedrooms will be provided. The cost of each unit will range from Rs 3.65 lakh to Rs 4.90 lakh, Naidu said.
It is proposed to take up construction of one lakh houses under this project. These will be flats with ground plus two floors.

Besides, the Government has set a target of distributing 1.5 lakh houses to the poor this financial year under Basava Indira Housing Scheme.

All deputy commissioners of the districts have been directed to send the list of beneficiaries by July 25 and the scheme will be launched on August 1, the Minister said.

The Government has taken up these schemes to free the State from hutment dwellers in the next three years.

Chief Minister Yeddyurappa, on Wednesday convened a meeting of officials to review the construction of houses in flood-hit areas.

The Chief Minister reportedly told officials that the construction activities should be completed before the rainy season sets in.

The Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation, the Land Army and Karnataka Housing Board are among the government agencies which had been constructing houses.

Yeddyurappa has also told officials to get in touch with donors who pledged support for constructing houses, as work has not progressed as assured.
