East attack leaves South struggling

Last Updated 10 June 2009, 20:18 IST

At the Chinnaswamy stadium, South went to stumps on Wednesday at 185 for eight from 90 overs, forced to work hard for their runs against a disciplined East attack in which Ravikanth Singh (3/30) and Sourav Das (2/53) shared the wicket-taking honours.

Shreyas, coming off a century and 93 in his last two innings, was dismissed for 53, while Mishal was unbeaten on 59 and carrying South’s hopes of building on their thus far paltry total.

At the RWF ground, Aditya Srivastava was unfortunate to miss a century by two runs, but he formed the rock around which ZCA Central posted a highly respectable day-one total of 319 for eight against ZCA West after opting to bat.

Unmukt Chand (66) and Gaurav Kochar (65 n.o.) spurred ZCA North to a first-day score of 258 for six in 99 overs against President’s XI at the JIRS ground.
