The Union Culture Ministry has decided to set up South India’s Regional Office of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in Bangalore. Dr S V Venkateshaiah, who served as Superintendent Archaeologist of Dharwad Circle earlier, will head the new office.
The office will look after important monuments, including the nationally protected historical structures and the world heritage sites situated in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Goa States.
