Govt order withdrawn, official suspended

The Under Secretary, K Subbaiah, who had issued the direction through a circular has been suspended, pending an inquiry against him.
According to an official communication from the Joint Secretary to Government (Social Welfare Department), the controversial direction had been withdrawn with immediate effect. It said that officers at the lower level had issued the direction without bringing the matter to the notice of the Secretary of the department. The list of castes in category 2A would remain as per the gazette notification of the list issued on March 30, 2002.
