Arrangements made to ensure safe Games: Kalmadi

"Good progress was being made on the preparations front for the Games and assured the delegates that all arrangements to ensure a safe Games were being made," Kalmadi said in an OC release. "All venues are world class and would be completed well in time," he said after a special briefing of Commonwealth High Commissioners.

Kalmadi also quoted Australian Commonwealth Games Association CEO Perry Crosswhite as saying that "these Games have the potential to be better than the Melbourne Games." Representatives, including High Commissioners, Deputy High Commissioners and trade delegates from various Commonwealth nations attended the meeting.

South Africa, UK, Australia, Mauritius, Kenya, Jamaica, Singapore, Mozambique, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Bangladesh, Gambia, Zambia, Bahamas and Malaysia were some of the nations that were represent. "The delegates expressed satisfaction over the progress made by the Organising Committee," the release said.
