<p>"We are planning to hold road shows, the details of which would be fixed," said French Ambassador to India Jerome Bonnafont.<br /><br />He said Indian students comprise less than one per cent of the total number of foreign students enrolled in French universities at present.<br /><br />About 2.5 lakh foreign students are studying in French universities, of whom only about 2,000 are from India.<br /><br />"We are targeting to increasing the number to 4,000 in the coming years," the Ambassador said.<br /><br />According to him, Indian students take up engineering and management programmes in varsities in his country apart from language and cultural programmes.<br /><br />Bonnafont said state universities only charge administrative fee from students.<br />This year, more than 300 students are being supported by the French government through its various programmes and about 57 scholarships were awarded to students today at a programme sponsored by various French companies.<br /><br />Orange Business Services gave away scholarships to 13 young engineering graduates who have chosen to pursue specialisation in IT network, telecommunication engineering etc.<br /><br />Others who offered scholarships include BNP Paribas, Air Liquide, Thales among others.</p>
