Crowds throng Chikungunya camp

These patients were suffering from Chikungunya’s symptoms for the past one month. Unable to control the pain through medicines prescribed by local hospitals and clinics, they had come with the hope that the camp might provide them with cure.

The camp was organised by Humanitarian Relief Society (HRS), Jamaat-e-Islami Hind and the Bhagwan Buddha Homoeopathic Medical College (BBHMC) at the "Mysore Saw Mills" premises in Kadugondanahalli on Saturday.

Two-year-old Rakshita, suffering from fever and joint pain, was accompanied by her father Krishnamurthy to avail free medicines. "My daughter has not responded to the medicines given by doctors at hospitals. Thus, i came here to try homoeopathy medicines." Since the symptoms can easily spread among family members, many sought medicines for the whole family.

A doctor present at the camp said the only medicine for Chikungunya was to strengthen the immune system. Another homoeopathy practitioner, Aftak Waseem said that 99 percent of people who turned up for the camp had similar symptoms like fever, nausea, joint stiffness and vomiting.

Patients from KG Halli, Yaseen Nagar, Rashad Nagar, Shampur, Gandhi Nagar, Kushal Nagar, Vinoba Nagar and Anwar Layout visited the camp.
