Tete-a-tete with the eternal romantic
FOX History and Entertainment presents Masterclass — Yash Chopra on July 15 at 10 pm. Known as the eternal romantic, Yash Chopra has given Hindi cinema some of the most romantic films — Kabhi Kabhi, Silsila,  Chandni, Lamhe, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Dil To Pagal Hai and Veer-Zaara.

His cinema has always boasted of melodious music, beautiful and stylised heroines and the most picturesque locales in the world. In some ways, it wouldn’t be incorrect to say that he introduced Indian viewers to the true beauty of Switzerland through his films.
But if you thought Yash Chopra’s film-making skills are only limited to romantic films, think again. He is much more versatile than that.

Films like Dhool Ka Phool, Waqt, Deewar, Trishul and Mashaal made strong statements and showed a completely different side of Yash Chopra, far removed from the mushy side seen in most of his other films.

With time, Yash Chopra has made a successful transition to the role of a producer, giving young directors a chance. Successful films like Hum Tum, Dhoom, Dhoom 2, Bunty Aur Babli, Chak De India, Bachna Ae Haseeno and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi have added glory to his Yash Raj banner.

Get to know the real Yash Chopra in a candid chat with director Sudhir Mishra on Master Class.

The verdict is out
The battle of the sexes on Star Plus’ Zara Nachke Dikha had literally divided the nation into two groups — ladka and ladki. The Mastkalandar boys, who lost the battle had to not only face defeat but also bow down to the winners and let out a cry of defeat saying Jahan Panha Tussi Great Ho as they accepted they were the weaker sex on national television. The Masakali girls who won, on the other hand, walked away with a grand prize money of 50 lakh and were declared as the superior gender.

To add to the glitz and glamour of the grand finale, the three judges did special performances. Vaibhavi had done what she does best — choreography. She had choreographed stunning pieces for Shilpa Shetty and Arshad Warsi, which they performed flawlessly at the finale.

Shilpa Shetty finally fulfilled her desire to perform mujra on the finale of Zara Nachke Dikha. Meanwhile, Arshad Warsi got to do a special performance that was extremely close to his heart. After 14 years of a happy married life, Arshad and wife Maria Goretti came together for a performance. Apparently, it was one such dance performance that had the couple fall in love years ago.

All the contestants had trained rigorously and had some very special acts in place revolving around the theme of the finale — fire, water and air.

If you thought that was all, the finale got tougher as there was a special act planned — Super Dancer Of The Series Act. The judges were asked to share five names that they thought were the best performers throughout the season. These top five competed in an act where they showcased their ultimate dance which was a redefining moment in the finale.

To add to the celebrations, present in full strength were the Star Parivaar members and two very special guests — Irfan Pathan and Harbhajan Singh, who cheered for the Masakalli boys and the Mastkalandar girls, as they battled it out in the finale of Zara Nachke Dikha.

Moving to South
Television star Alexx O’Neil, popularly known as Shweta Keshwani’s husband, will soon be seen in a Tamil movie named Madrassapatinam directed by A L Vijay, who had earlier given hits like Kireedam and Poi Solla Porom. The movie is a love story set against the backdrop of the independence struggle of 1947. After doing comic roles in Cheeni Kum and Loins of Punjab Presents, Madrassapiatinam is his first negative role and the first period film.

Alexx said, “This movie marks my debut in Tamil film industry. To understand the character, I did some research. I went online and read about what Madras was like in the 1940s. While the character is fictional, I also studied about many people, who were in similar positions of power with similar backgrounds.”
