Farhan Azmi receives extortion call from Ravi Pujari gang

Farhan, who is the husband of actor Ayesha Takia, lodged a complaint with the crime branch which is probing the matter, they said.

"According to Farhan, the caller introduced himself as a member of Ravi Pujari gang, demanded some crores of rupees as 'protection money' from him over phone recently," a crime branch official said on condition of anonymity.

Earlier this year also, Farhan had lodged a complaint to the crime branch stating that he had received a threatening call from a man claiming to be associated with the underworld.

In January, Farhan contested the by-election for Bhiwandi East Assembly seat and lost to Shiv Sena candidate Rupesh Mhatre, despite the then Samajwadi Party top brass coming out in full force to support his candidature.
