BJP tells Reddys to stop mudslinging

Last Updated 20 July 2010, 18:17 IST

State BJP spokesperson V Dhananjay Kumar, addressing reporters in the presence of Minister Janardhana Reddy, said the party has decided to put an end to political mudslinging on the issue. “From now on, we will not talk about the issue as it has been handed over to the Lokayukta. If the Congress and the JD(S) have any faith in the Lokayukta, they should hand over all documents they have to the Lokayukta and wait for his report,” he stated.

When asked about Reddy’s reaction to the party’s decision, the spokesperson said: “He too is not in a favour of talking about mining henceforth.”

It is learnt that the Reddys may make a presentation on mining to the party high command on July 25 at Delhi. It is said this may become an exercise to buttress their argument that they have no role in illegal mining in the State.

Referring to the proposed padayatra by Minister Sriramulu Dhananjay Kumar said no yatra will take place without the consent of the party.

He said: “Sriramulu has only expressed his intention. He is only a party worker. He will obey the party’s decision.”

Reddy has announced that Sriramulu will take out a padayatra “Bellary Swabhimani Samavesh” from Bellary to Mysore, against the Congress’ plan to hold a padayatra from Bangalore to Bellary.
