‘Veeneya Bedagu’

The Veena Sheshanna Memorial National Award presentation function will be held on July 24. On this occasion, a three-day musical festival called Veeneya Bedagu 2010, has been organised from July 23 to 25 at Bangalore Gayana Samaja Auditorium.

B R Jayachamaraje Urs, Secretary, Kannada Culture Department will inaugurate the festival on July 23.

S C Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, Tumkur University will inaugurate the symposium on July 25 and P Venugopala Rao, reputed musicologist will preside on that day.

Popular artistes T M Krishna, R K Padmanabha and K S Gopalakrishnan will perform on the occasion and R K Srikantan, M S Sheela and D Balakrishna will demonstrate the compositions of Veene Sheshanna at the symposium.

On piano 

The International Music and Art Society is organising a concert by Julian Clef on July 23, 7 pm at Alliance Francaise.

‘Allied Ragas’

Ananya will present Allied Ragas-3 on July 25, 10 am at Ananya Sabhangana. The ragas to be presented are Anandabhairavi and Reethigowla.

The artistes performing are R  N Tyagarajan and R N Taranathan (Rudrapatnam Brothers) accompanied by C N Chandrashekaran (violin), C Cheluvaraj (mridanga).

‘Ananya Kalotsava’

Ananya Kalotsava 2010 will be held on July 25 at Seva Sadan Auditorium, 14th Cross, Malleswaram.  There will be Kannada Kavya Sangeetha by Shankar Shanbhog and party from 5 pm to 6.45 pm,. There will also be a music ensemble by Manasi Prasad, Karthik Datar,  Mahesh Swamy, Harsha Samaga on the occasion.

Talent hunt

Sangam Kala Group, a national singing talent hunt organisation, is conducting Surtarang, a national singing competition, the auditions of which will be held on July 25, 9 am at  Soundglitz Academy of Music, 95, Crescent Eminence, 2nd floor, Brigade Road.

On the occasion of Sapthaswara Academy’s 74th monthly chamber music programme on July 24, at 6.45 pm, Vidwan Mysore Sri Manasa Nayana will perform a vocal recital. ‘Raga’ session

Sunaada Cultural Centre is conducting a series of workshop Ek Raga Ashta Kriti in four sessions on August 1 and August 22 and on September 5 and September 19, from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm, at Mahati Gyana Mandira, 2718/6, 3rd Cross, Sirur Park Road, Malleswaram.

About 50 ragas will be covered during the workshop.
