Mithun rallies past Sirish in qualifiers

It was a hectic and gruelling day for the organisers, Padukone Sports Management, at the Karnataka Badminton Association courts as the matches that commenced at 9.00 am in the morning went on till an hour before midnight. The main draw that will kick-off from Wednesday.

Karnataka’s Mithun Manjunath overcame second game loss in concentration to defeat Sirish 21-19, 12-21, 13-21 in the boys’ under-16 singles match.

Another Karnataka shuttler Nishanth Moorthy lost his under-19 match against CR Manikandan 21-11, 21-13. He partnered Shubham Bhusari to sail past Harsha Vardhan K and Revanth K 21-9, 21-10 in the doubles.

Among the girls, Rishika Radhakrishna had a perfect day.

 She pulled off an easy 21-17, 21-15 win over Rashmi S Babu in the under-16 singles before overcoming a stiff challenge from Farha Mather and Sinymol in the U-16 doubles event. With the match even at 13-21, 21-17, she and Parvathi SK stayed calm in a nervous decider to win 26-24.
