Three men turn crime fighters, felicitated

At the cost of personal risk, they chased a chain snatcher

Anil, who is working in a call centre and Venkatesh, who recently completed his PUC were returning home on a bike at night, when near MES College in Thindlu, they noticed an
autorickshaw slow down.

A man got out of the auto rickshaw, snatched the chain of a woman, Nalini who was on the sidewalk and ran for a few yards in an attempt to get back into the auto. Anil realised that the chain snatcher and the auto rickshaw driver were in cahoots. He turned his bike and started chasing the duo, said police. The auto driver noticed Anil and Venkatesh in chase and tried to speed away. The chain snatcher could not get into the auto. He started running away. Ananth, who was passing by the road was witness the incident, started chasing down the robber. He managed to hold of him just as he was trying to jump over the compound wall of a building. The robber took out a knife and attacked Ananth.  Though he sustained injuries, Ananth held on to the robber who too sustained injuries in the incident. A few bystanders rushed to Ananth’s rescue. They alerted the police who rushed and arrested the robber and shifted him to a hospital. However, the robber is yet to disclose his identity.

Meanwhile, Anil and Venkatesh chased the auto for nearly a kilometre. Sunil overtook the auto, but the auto driver rammed the auto against the bike and fled. Sunil fell down and sustained injuries

Appreciating their efforts, the City Police Commissioners Shankar Bidari honoured Anil and Ananth by presenting Rs 10,000 cash award to each.
Public can play a crucial in the prevention of crimes if they join hands with the police, he stressed.

Dacoity bid: 4 held
KS Layout police arrested four persons for allegedly hatching a conspiracy to commit dacoity. The suspects are Nandeesh (23), Paramesh (22), Ravi (26) and Venkataraju (28), all from Konanakunte. On a tip, the police surrounded them near an isolated area behind Metro on Kanakapura Main Road before arresting them. One of the suspects, however managed to escape, said the police.
