Youth convicted of raping minor girl

The convict, Shiv Kumar, a resident of Adugodi, has been awarded seven years imprisonment with a fine of Rs 10,000. On default, he will have to serve an additional imprisonment of one year.

The incident dates back to May 5, 2007, reported at Vivek Nagar police station. The victim, a resident of Ejipura, had gone to buy beedis for her father.
Around 9.30 pm, while she was at the shop near Ravi theatre, Shiv Kumar, a gate keeper at the theatre had taken her to the terrace on the pretext of showing a movie and had raped her. Based on victim’s father’s complaint Shiv Kumar was arrested.

The girl had identified Shiv Kumar and at least three workers of the theatre had also seen him taking the girl to the terrace, said the police.
